Coastal Group Projects

Projects collectively conducted by the Swansea and Carmarthen Bay Coastal Engineering Group.

In 2023/24 the SCBCEG have conducted an action streamlining and rationalisation process to ensure that all Action Plan items adhere to SMART principles: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely.

The SCBCEG has been participating in the Marine Climate Change Impacts Partnership (MCCIP) “Climate change risks to coastal communities, and their health and wellbeing” project (COCO) Working Group, engaging with scientists and end user communities to assess risks and help build resilience.

In 2025, the SCBCEG completed Measure 11 of the Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategy for Wales - "Coastal Groups to report on the implementation of SMP2 epoch 1 policies, through Wales Coastal Group Forum to the Welsh Government, by 2025."

In 2021 every Shoreline Management Plan across Wales was reviewed to ensure the documents remained relevant and up-to-date, with these reviews referred to a "Health Checks". In 2025, the SCBCEG thoroughly reviewed the SMP20 report's recommendations, and have adapted our SMP and Action Plan accordingly.
